At Tamar Energy Community we’re involved in a number of different projects that are helping us localise energy. This includes community owned renewable energy, improving housing and addressing fuel poverty.

Thermal Imaging Camera Scheme

TEC in partnership with West Devon Borough Council has an opportunity for up to 8 communities to use the council’s thermal imaging cameras (TICs) between 6 December and 31 March.

This ‘point and shoot’ camera will provide you with a thermal image of a home or building. The information provided by the cameras will inform what retrofit work could be done to make the properties more energy efficient. 

We are looking for “energy champions” in the communities to take part, who will lead on using a thermal imaging camera in their town, village or area.

Community Solar

TEC has installed 327kW of community owned solar across six host sites including Abbey Garden Machinery and Mount Kelly College and Prep sites in Tavistock, Tesco Stores in Callington, Carbiele Junior School in Torpoint and Plymstock School.

Mount Kelly Renewable Heat Project

Mount Kelly School and Tamar Energy Community are excited to be working on an ambitious renewable heat project to assess the potential for a carbon neutral district heating system for the School’s 60 plus buildings across their 100 acre site. Find out more here.
